Succeeds in painting Arabs in shades of grey unlike most Hollywood films July 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
"The Kite Runner" is a well-made tale of betrayal and redemption set in Afghanistan and San Francisco. With both western and arabic collaboration in making this film we end up with a strange mixture of Arabic sensibility, gritty art film, and Hollywood soap opera. In addition the sexual perversion element of the film is very hard to take. Nevertheless this is a very well acted film and succeeds in portraying Arab people in shades of grey in contrast to most Hollywood films.

I probably would have given the movie "Kite Runner" a good review if I received it. Ordered it from spring4nix on May 26th, it never arrived.
deep & profound June 15, 2008 An incredibly good movie in all respects. For a reminder of truth, courage, loyalty and what it means to be human; it doesn't get any better than this.
Tears,Tears,Tears June 15, 2008 Simply one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen. Cried throughout, mesmerized by the scenery and story..and the beautiful, literally beautiful cast.
Whoever casted the actors, did the costumes, sets, locations, etc deserves awards. This will be forever one of my top favorite movies..and oh the music is simply gorgeous too.
WARNING! BOY ON BOY RAPE! June 14, 2008 5 out of 21 found this review helpful
In this movie, child actors act out boy on boy rape. In my opinion, you should not rent or buy this movie, even if the book is on your child's school reading list. Granted, the scene doesn't go far, but it goes far enough to let you know what has happened. Now, THE REAL LIFE BOY ACTOR FEARS BEING ATTACKED because the movie offends Afghan dignity. (Source= http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory?id=3639956) This kid has been used. Compared to that kid, I am lucky. I am only out a few bucks for a movie that I will never finish watching. This movie should be rated R. Then I would not have allowed my children to rent it. If you write a review about this movie, please mention the boy on boy rape so that others can make an informed decision.
