Don't bother May 17, 2008 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
I guess this is a love it or hate it item. I hated it and I sent it back. It didn't come with any instructions. I guess I got a different tool than the people that said it was easy and wonderful. I'm a college grad and I couldn't figure it out. I emailed the company and they sent me directions but they talked about a vice..what vice? and how it opened up..it did? The pins had no way to stay in place. Too frustrating and it didn't open a thing. You know what did open my watch? A sharp knife! Worked like a charm and it was free!
Real nice for the price. May 11, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This tool really fits the bill...especially for the price. As previously mentioned, there isn't directions. But you don't need them. The tool is pretty easy to figure out. Just make sure the bits are pushed all the way in like others have said. I had 3 watches that needed batteries...this has paid for itself already.
Poorly Made May 9, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The product is very poorly made. The bits don't fit very well into the tool and the verticle handle adjustment is very sloppy and loose.
However, the customer service was excellent when I contacted them and an immediate refund was issued.
Works Great April 27, 2008 Works just as I expected and I save time and money changing my own watch batteries.
redneck watch repair: first you take a 2x4... April 18, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This worked fine to open my Tag Heuer Professional 1000 watch, which is old enough that Tag will no longer service it. The back was on my watch quite tightly, so I created a vise to hold the watch by screwing a couple of pieces of scrap wood flooring into a 2x4. After attaching the watch to the 2x4 the tool removed the back quite easily.
That model watch takes an Energizer 395 battery, by the way. I guess I need to find a source to buy a replacement o-ring too. The one that's in there looked fine, but probably best to replace it regularly.
The tool came in a nice cardboard/pressboard box, not the wooden box pictured. As others have mentioned the tool was covered in a film of oil, so have some paper towels handy to clean it off. The instruction sheet was well written and readable. The bits clicked into the tool nicely and did not fall out. If I was going to open watches every day I might shell out for the $200 Swiss Jaxa tool, but for what I needed this worked great.
