A little noisy but good October 21, 2008 I write simulations that run both cores of my Lenovo Thinkpad T61p at 99-100% and the typical temperatures I get from sensor readings are 89 C. This cooler reduces the temperature by 10-15 C with the fans at high. Plenty of holes for air flow. The pad is suitable for laptops bigger than mine, which has a 15.4" screen. It is bulky but light - folds for transportation. No manuals but doesn't need any. I expected the fans to be silent except for the whoosh from the air flow but that is not the case - the fans do make a little bit of noise. The Lenovo laptops have their processor cores on the far left corner of the laptop body so the laptop cannot be placed in a natural way on the cooler for the air flow to make contact with the hottest spot. But this is more of a design issue with the Thinkpad than with any laptop cooler.
Great Buy! Expensive but worth it. October 1, 2008 You know how you look at the price of something and go...eeek? Ive had other laptop coolers as I online game with mine and it cooks the tabletop if I dont have a cooler hooked up. Other coolers just move air around. This one actually kept the bottom cool to the touch after several hours of gaming. If you are going eek at the price don't worry, your search is over, as this one is under that catagory of get what you buy. Well built and the extra usb ports will come in handy. A wheel on the side helps you adjust the speed of the fan. Have not noticed any noise at highest speed setting, seems quiet.
The. Best. September 30, 2008 Simply the best laptop cooler available to the public. Period. Forget that it is 3-4x the price of cheaper alternatives. If you have a big machine that runs HOT, this is the badboy you want to buy.
17" widescreen? No problem.
Running a 512MB video card and playing games on the laptop with huge processor strain? No problem.
I have a Toshiba gaming monster. Took about 20 minutes on a rigid surface (not my lap) for the side vents to get hot. Serious, you can't touch it anymore, hot. Another 15 minutes and you could no longer rest your hands on the keyboard.
Before I bought this cooler, I had tried several of the cheap plastic coolers available for $15-25 a piece. One had a blue glow. Another offered variable speeds. Blah blah blah. They were crap. Built to handle laptops that just got warm, not serious processing machines, they had absolutely no effect on this beast. I game for hours now. The breeze out the sides is now comfortably warm. And it's quiet as a ghost.
Bottom line. Ignore the price. This thing works. If you have a big laptop and it gets hot, this will help FAR better than any of the cheaper alternatives.
did not deliver on the promise September 21, 2008 0 out of 5 found this review helpful
Three fans in just the right place to cool my computer. Four USB ports. Angled design with a very nice non-slip surface to make typing on a table easier. (It is definitely not designed for laptop use.) Too bad it didn't work. I replaced it with an Antec. Not as fancy but it does the job.
So Easy My husband using it! September 17, 2008 Ok, it was a lot of money, but I love it. It quiet and makes it easier to type. My husband not a big computer person, so, he hated the laptop. Now I can't keep him off it. It makes it so easier for him to type and it easy enough for him to connect it. It does bug me that there is no way to lock the front hinge but I can deal with it!
