Wicked Sharp! July 8, 2008 A great tool for any kitchen. I was sick of sawing through tomatoes and ending up with soup. A few quick swipes and now Im all set.
Really like it June 22, 2008 I really like this product. So easy to use-- it even made cutting tomatoes and bell peppers fun now.
Barely better than nothing June 12, 2008 9 out of 11 found this review helpful
I don't know if it's the angle that this product creates, or what, but my knives go dull very quickly after using this sharpener.
I bought this sharpener based on the reviews here on Amazon. And the first time I used it, I was impressed: a few swipes with the sharpener and my Cutco knives seemed to work great. After a few days, however, it became obvious that the sharpness does not last long. After sharpening a knife with this gadget, it seems good for the next cutting job, but the next day, it feels like a hacksaw and I find myself needing to use the sharpener again and again.
I'm back to using my flat stone. A few swipes on the stone and my knives stay sharp for several, even many, days.
If you can't use a sharpening stone, this might be better than nothing--barely.

I purchased this based on a review in Cook's Illustrated. I was surprised how well just a cheap product worked. I used it about once a week and my knifes stay very sharp.
Clever Gadget Works Amazingly Well May 16, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been searching for a replacement for my sharpening stones now for ages. I've run through maybe 5 different sharpening systems all of which worked more or less well. Nothing worked as well as my series of oil stones but I wanted to find some sort of shortcut which didn't take as long or put me out in the garage for a half hour every week.
This is the first system I'd say equals oil stones. It's one of those delightful surprises which comes along rather rarely. Low cost and also operates as promised. If you want to get really picky - no - this doesn't equal exactly that super fine edge I get with the hardest of my oil stones but that edge only lasts a few cuts anyway. Back here in the real world, this works every bit as well and is much faster, easier, and also fun to use.
After your initial cut, you only need a few strokes to get your knives back to that honed edge sharpness. Low cost, ease of use - what more can you ask for?
