Product Description The Casio CW-100 Disc Title Printer uses direct thermal printing technology. The CW-100 can print titles on up to 40 discs in one of 5 different colors (red, blue, green, silver or black). The CW-100 will not damage your important discs. Unlike other ink systems, thermal prints dry instantly, and the final print will not peel off. Use any font on your system to create custom disc titles. 300 DPI printing provides sharp, professional results. The CW-100 also provides a unique auto-turn function to print on upper and lower areas of your discs in one simple operation.Create your own titles-print directly onto CD's. Design a label simply by selecting options that suit the CD type and your needs. Import your own graphics (BMP or JPEG) onto the CD's and use your own fonts that are installed on your computer. An on-screen preview image shows exactly what the label will look like. An assistant feature provides help when you need it. Add up to 6 lines per input field.

ribbon info June 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i use black ink, comes in a 3-pack.
each ribbon will print 70 lines. i only print one line per DVD, and therefore get 70 DVDs per ribbon.
the printer will use the same amount of ribbon for each line, whether you print 1 character or fill the whole line up. there is no benefit trying to use less characters per line.
printer has worked flawlessly.
Good for what it does September 3, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
All I wanted was simple labels for dvd's/cd's I burn. Nothing fancy, just something legible (the sharpie wasn't working to well with my handwriting). This thing hasn't let me down yet, no torn ribbons or anything like that, have done about 100 dvd's with it now.
It's simple, it's quick, it does what it's supposed to do effectively.
For what it is, it does it good. August 21, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I am a professional photographer and I use this to print labels on photo CDs and DVDs. It works really, really well. I have printed over 1000 labels with this printer and I have never had a torn ribbon, nor have I had any other problems. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that I feel the ribbon could last longer and the print speed is slow. However, considering the multi-CD thermal printers cost thousands of dollars, this is the way to go if you only have a few CDs to print at a time.
If you want your CDs or DVDs to have a professional look and feel to them, this printer does a perfect job. Just make sure you use "thermal printable" CD/DVD media.

Ribbon jammed and tore the second time I used it. AVOID!

Don't waste your money. It uses a ribbon, which jammed and tore the second time I used it. They've sealed the cartridge, so you can't patch it. AVOID.
