Product Description Give your camera's harsh pop-up flash a makeover! The Puffer flash diffuser gives you the same flattering lighting style used by professionals. The Puffer simply slides into your camera's flash shoe and places the diffuser in front of your pop-up flash. The diffuser softens the light which gives you much better color and softer shadows, an all together better shot in a flash! Decent, not great December 3, 2008 Just got this and although it does diffuse, it doesn't do it all that noticeably. I realized quickly after trying to install it on my D50 that it isn't designed to go all the way in, presumably to avoid damaging the contacts on the shoe. It will do for the convenience of fitting into my bag when I don't want to mess with a full flash unit. As for full function - it's best used for reducing over-exposed highlights on your subject, but it won't completely disperse the light from the flash.
Love it! December 2, 2008 This works awesome. I'm taking a photography class and someone else in class had this item. I purchased it and I'm very happy with it. It works great.
Not impressed December 1, 2008 The first issue with this product is that it will not fit into the hot shoe of my Nikon D60 without cutting off part of the diffuser. This is why there are so many reviews of broken diffusers - people force it on to their camera. I took a razor and shaved off some of the base so it would fit.
Once it was on I realized I had waste my money. Setting my camera's flash to -1EV produced the same results as using the diffuser. I took many shots of my children and -1 vs the differ were indistinguishable.
Problem with Mount has been fixed... November 21, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The mount that some people have had trouble with was fixed with a slight design modification quite a while ago. While most dealers' stock has been replaced, there are some that are still trickling through. If the mount broke for you, call customer support at 800-906-6447 x1 and they will send you the new one. It doesn't matter where you purchased it. The design change is illustrated here http://garyfonginc.com/images/PUF-MOUNT_v2.jpg.
does the job but flimsy November 20, 2008 I got this for my Nikon D80 for indoor snapshots of my kids. I watched a youtube tutorial on how to properly install it, and once I recieved it I thought it would be a piece of cake. It broke in two on my first attempt. I am still able to use it (for how long, I dont know) and it does do a fantastic job at diffusing the light. My photos look natural, clear and bright. If you aren't looking to drop a couple hundred on a Speedlight and just want something cheap to go with your pop up flash, this would be it. Just expect to get what you pay for as far as durability goes!
