Easy return but with $ penalty November 23, 2008 Never got a chance to use this product as we changed our minds and purchased a stereo unit with iPod connector. Easy to return item by following instruction and we did receive a credit for return BUT with a $30+ penalty for restocking fee.
My third JVC CD changer June 25, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
When I got a new car this year, I let my old JVC 12-CD changer go with the car I traded in. That was a mistake because even though the old one said it didn't play MP3's burned onto a blank CD, it did. I was at an advantage with the older (12 years) unit because it played both .wav files and MP3's. This new one only plays MP3's. So, if you are making your own CD's to play in this unit you have to convert any .wav or WMA (or other) files into MP3's before you burn the CD. A simple downloadable free trial version of "Switch" will do that for you. I still don't know how many MP3's I can get on one CD but I'm working on that. I'm told up to possibly 65 on one. Times that by 12 and you've got quite a collection on one cartridge full. We still have one of the older JVC changers in another vehicle, and after 8 years it works as good as new. The nice thing is JVC didn't change the 12-CD magazine cartridges so you I can switch around cartridges from car to car. I love this changer and was so glad I went this route as opposed to an MP3 player. I don't know how long JVC will continue to make this unit so be aware of that factor since everything now is going to MP3 players with adapters for vehicles. Up until recently both Best Buy and Circuit City carried this unit. No more, but they will install it for you. I paid $75 for installation at Circuit City but if you're handy it seems easy enough to install yourself by following instructions. Hope this helps in your decision.
CD Changer March 15, 2008 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
The 12 disk CD Changer from Sony was fairly easy to install and came with all of the necessary hardware. The unit functions well with the exception of the remote, which does not work at all. As far as the unit is concerned, I would both recommend it and buy it again.
Very cool...while it worked. March 22, 2006 4 out of 8 found this review helpful
This gave flawless service for about three years, but then the display on the remote began to flicker contantly. Cleaning the connectors with contact cleaner was no use.
The display now lights up only occasionally, so I have hours of music online but no way of knowing how to find a given song.
Unfortunately, the remote is not available separately. One came up for auction on ebay, but the seller indicated that it also had a non-working display -- perhaps the lightsource (cold-cathode tube?) has a limited life.
I'm still giving it three stars as I got a lot of great use out of it. I'd say I did get my money's worth, and might just replace it with the same unit.
