Product Description Constructed around a series of late night conversations around a camp fire between Cheryl Simone and Sadhguru Vasudev on an Island in the middle of a Western North Carolina lake near her mountain home, Midnights with the Mystic is the most thorough exposition of the teachings of India's most sought after mystic. Sadhguru challenges us to embrace the possibility that to each of us is available a higher realm of reality, a peak of consciousness; an entree into the realm of freedom and bliss. Concrete and down-to-earth, Midnights with the Mystic both provides readers with an introduction to profound spiritual teaching and a personal glimpse of a charismatic guru.

My thoughts July 5, 2008 I love to read books that inspire me to be on the path of spirituality. I was fortunate enough to have come across this book, which truly inspired me to believe that there was nothing to stop me from achieving what I want. The author has described her experiences in a simple manner, which is greatly helpful for beginners like me, and also by sharing Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev's experiences makes the advancers to ponder over the subject matter. After reading the book,'Mystic's Musings', by Sadhguru, I was eagerly waiting to read another book along the same lines and alas! here it is!! I couldn't stop reading until I was done with the entire book.
Midnights with the Mystic: A Little Guide to Freedom and Bliss
Words that come from experience and a deep understanding of life July 5, 2008 This book offers the reader the possibility of exploring one to a higher dimension that can only come from one who has experienced. If you have read "The monk who sold his Ferrari", you will definitely love reading this book as the words come straight from the Master. Julian Mantle's 'personal odyssey of the self' and meeting the sages of Sivana to understand the purpose of his life parallel's to Cheryl's conversations with Sadhguru and provides an opportunity for every human to explore a new possibility of joy within. "If you want to seek another dimension, it's always best that you have a person who is already in that other dimension, otherwise it looks like an endless journey .." and many more that can be related and spoken only from experience.
More than I bargained for... July 5, 2008 I followed up on this book because it had been recommended by a close friend. I read it in one three hour sitting. Thoroughly interesting and I must confess a lot more enjoyable than I had original anticipated. My preconceived notions of what the word "yoga" means have been completely shattered and I can't wait to dive deeper into some his other works. The surgical logic applied to some of her teachers answers made the hairs on the back of my neck stand to attention at times. Highly recommended!!
Book Review July 5, 2008 Midnights with the Mystic is an immensely readable and eye opening book about three interrelated journeys: the journey of author Cheryl Simone; the journey of her spiritual master, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev; and the journey open to anyone willing to take a step toward a blissful life. The book has been written through a series of reflective and intense conversations between Simone and Vasudev in which Vasudev provides tantalizing glimpses of what this blissful life could be and how to move toward it.
Though written in an accessible and engaging style, the book is filled with deeply meaningful revelations that set it apart from the usual genre of self-help or spiritual books. That this book aims to inspire readers to desire more from life more than the rewarding career, the comfortable family life, and health is captured in a sentence on page 190, when Vasudev says succinctly, "There is no life's calling, but life is calling." Indeed, he reverses the typical logic to restrain and control our desires to say that our desires are really for a boundless involvement with the universe and they must therefore be unleashed. It is a profound, provocative book filled with wit and wisdom. A must-read.
Magical July 5, 2008 This is a great place to start when pondering life's many questions. I found myself wanting to be on the island with Sadhguru and asking questions of my own. What a blessing that Cheryl found such a profound teacher and had the opportunity to spend such precious time with him.
The book shows the many benefits of yoga and takes it so much further than just doing the exercises, which many Americans think that is all there is to yoga.
I highly recommend reading this book to open one's mind and stir up questions that you may not have know were lurking in your mind.
