OKay so I just finished reading Lover Enshrined and I have to say i thought it was much better than the stories about Butch and V. But honestly, the description of the book is different than the actual book. Now Phury has a wizard in his head, and this wizard tells him how worthless he is....etc. Okay weird.... Then there is only (maybe) about 100 pages even devoted to Phury and Cormia's relationship, if you even want to call it that. The book was good only because it was mostly about the other characters'...more or less. I was happy to learn more about John Matthew....and then Tohr came back.....so that is really cool. But honestly this book is not romance, and shouldn't be titled as such. I know other people have said this series is now Urban fanasty???? idk, but i will admitt that the other characters' were WAY more interesting than the "romance" between the main characters'. I know despite the fact i haven't liked the series too much since Z's book, I will probably get the next one ( when it is paper back, cause I heard it is coming out first hardback).

Vishous' story but not as good as the first few. Still a pretty decent read but I am hoping it gets back to the fast paced sexiness of the first ones.

I picked up the first two books by mistake, I'm a historical romance junkie, so when I got these books, I expected a lot of blood and gore and nauseating sex scenes, but I was pleasantly surprised. I was a fan of the series then. Now I'm not so sure. I was expecting more for the "celibate" brother. All I got was a lot of everybody else. I was reading, expecting more. One reviewer said this wasn't a romance but simply and transitioning book, and they were right. This book was for all intents and purposes, a lie. I don't know if I will read anymore of the books that follow this one. I am pretty sure that it would have to be another mistake. J.R. Ward has lost her way, and I don't want to buy the next two or three sequels to figure out what I know now.

Hmm, I was so excited to read about Phury and Cormia's so called whirlwind romance. But alas I was disappointed as I was with the last one with V and Doc Jane as they know call her. She might as well be Quinn Medicine Woman.
Anyway there was lackluster romance between Phury and Cormia and a lot of self doubt on both sides along with addiction and mental health issues. I didn't really enjoy Phury's mind taking a turn for the worse and on his part there was too much self pity along with the doubt.
But the highlight of the book was hearing more about my favorite threesome: Blay Qhuinn and John. I love all three of them together and apart. I can't just settle on one as they all have a special place in my heart. But their relationship definitely took a turn for the better and made their bond even stronger.
Shocker of it all is Lash , well not really a shocker. He's a mean and dirty SOB. I never really liked him so much and boy was I glad when Qhuinn did what he did. And of course I can't wait till he gets what's his.
Shocker too the return of the fallen soldier who lost it all. yea thats right, back for round two. I loved him too, so warmhearted.
And we have a new one, I don't know so much about him, but I'm sort of intrigued but not as much as I am or more so than I am about Rhev.
Then again all my boys keep my attention.
The book was good, but lacked what its predecessors held. Which was drama and intrigue and love along with the sex to the nines.
But BDB still rocks.

I had looked at some of the other reviews while I waited for a copy of Ward's Lover Enshrined, and I'm afraid I've got to say that I agree with a lot of what's been written in the customer reviews.
Despite the glowing "official" review, Ward has lost something vital through the series that had really hooked me in the beginning. I read Urban Fantasy, other Fantasy, Science Fiction, and Paranormal Romance, along with mainstream fiction novels, so I don't mind the urban fantasy schtick at all. Ward's latest is certainly an urban fantasy novel and I can enjoy that aspect of it. The problem I find is when a book is marketed to be one thing and it turns out to be another. Ward's quality of romance in her storylines has declined drastically. For instance, I found the storyline between Butch and Marissa to be totally two-dimensional and unbelievable. The same holds for Phury and Cormia in Lover Enshrined, and not only is their relationship unbelieveable, it occupies very little of the overall story. Ward couldn't say more blatantly than that she isn't interested in continuing in the paranormal romance genre. If this is not what she intends to convey, I hope she reads and takes note of the customer reviews and rethinks her plot strategies.
My quesiton is why is the book marketed as a paranormal romance? The same happened with, in my opinion, a horrifically bad novel written by S. Squires in which the hero is abused throughout the entire book, the relationship between the hero and heroine is flat and uninteresting, and yet the book itself is marketed to be a "romance."
These stories aren't romance, and publishers are only going to anger their market by continuing with such disasters and disappointments.
I just can't give this book too many stars. I will continue to watch Ward's progress but I don't think I'll be spending money on her work any time soon. I'd rather check it out from the library since I've lost trust in what the product will be that I'm buying.
