Product Description "An excellent read." —Ace Greenberg, Chairman, Bear Stearns Richard Smitten's Jesse Livermore is the first full biography of the legendary trader profiled in the bestselling Reminiscences of a Stock Operator (Wiley: 0-471-05970-6). Although he died more than half a century ago, Livermore is considered by today's top traders as the greatest trader who ever lived. An enigmatic loner, misanthrope, and notorious miser, Livermore revolutionized the profession with his innovative timing techniques, money management strategies, and high-momentum approach to trading stocks. Smitten provides a vivid portrait of Livermore and the times in which he lived and operated. He deftly combines eyewitness accounts of those who knew Livermore with fascinating stories of sensational love affairs, shootings, and suicides, and a detailed exploration of the trading strategies that made Livermore several fortunes in his lifetime. Richard Smitten (Key West, FL) is the author of several books, including The Godmother, the critically acclaimed story of a famous woman criminal.

skip this book September 13, 2008 I own Reminiscences and How to Trade in Stocks along with this book, and can tell you that no worthwhile market insight can be gathered from this book that you can't get from the other two. There is a bit more information on Livermore's personal life which you may, or may not, find interesting. In my opinion, it was just an effort by Smitten to sell another book.
Amazing Read August 17, 2008 What a great book. Entertaining AND educational this book reveals for the first time Livermore's true story with information gathered from his relatives.
Jesse Livermore " Worlds Greatest Stock Trader" February 24, 2008 Excellent Book - WOuld rate it as a Bible for people dealing in Capital Markets. Must read for all who trade stocks and commodities.
An excellent book about Livermore's life February 22, 2008 I think the 20+ pictures and the last 3 chapters would worth the money I paid for the book. Many years ago, I read an article written by a scientist who said that he would not pass any opportunity to attend the seminars by the well-known scientists because by seeing their faces, their body languages, and how they speak, he could better understand the articles and books written by them. I find this is true in this case as well. After reading this book and re-reading "How to Trade Stocks" I noticed many things that I did not pay attention when reading the book before. Also I have gained deeper understanding about his frustration when he was asked about how to make some quick money in the market.
Good reading. November 29, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Richard Smitten does an excellent job of portraying Jessy Livermore. He does not protray Mr. Livermore as a hero or a goat, just a man.
The book is easy reading and is very insightful to the frailities of a successful stock operator. It also discloses the principles by which Mr. Livermore built his wealth, and lost it. Good job Mr. Smitten.
