Amazon.com Review If the old saying "butter plus salt equals flavor" is true, somebody neglected to tell the folks at Weight Watchers. Simply the Best is a testament that good food need not always be accompanied by dietary guilt and that flavor doesn't have to be sacrificed in the name of health. The book's more than 250 sensible low-fat recipes cover the culinary spectrum, from entrees such as Bella Braised Chicken to desserts such as Strawberry Crepes. While the book is designed to accompany the popular Weight Watchers diet program, it can be used by anyone interested in healthy, delicious, low-fat food. The prizewinning recipes are contributed by Weight Watchers members and staff from across the U.S., Canada, and England. For chefs new to low-fat cooking, Simply the Best is an excellent resource for learning flavorful combinations to substitute for traditional high-fat, high-caloric fare. Most inspiring is the sheer variety of recipes included in the book and the unique variations on old themes. While it may sound unconventional to purists, the Apple Cranberry Pie with Granola Crust is wonderful, and the Chicken Marsala with Green Grapes would go well on any table.

disappointed November 18, 2008 I thought this would be more of your Basic eaters like Chili's, Logans, Red Lobster eaters like this but instead it is more like New York City famous eaters. Not up to my taste.

This is one of my most favorite cookbooks and I am not really a cookbook person. But, I will say this-there are some wonderful recipes in this book that even my family really enjoys.
I bought it! July 15, 2008 I borrowed this book from my local library, but I tagged so many recipes, and so many recipes that I tried turned out well, that I bought the book (and this coming from someone who doesn't buy cookbooks). If you're not completely sure about buying, why not borrow from your library first? You won't be disappointed, and you'll be looking to purchase your own copy very soon! Fantastic way to explore new recipes to keep you on program for life!

I bought this cookbook in the mid 90's when I first started attending Weight Watchers. I made a few of the recipes and for the most part, was unimpressed by them. After flipping through the book again recently after re-joining Weight Watchers, I discovered that most of the recipes seemd unappealing to me or had ingredients I don't typically use. For example, one salad requires 'sushi rice,' which is difficult to make! I don't know why anyone would go to all that trouble for a salad. I'm going to try getting a different Weight Watchers cookbook and hope I have better luck with the next one.
