 Same One the Barbers Use---Works Great! September 28, 2008
After years of paying a barber to cut his hair, my husband gave in to the chidings of his brother and a friend to buy the same clipper used by barbers, the Oster Classic 76, to begin using it to cut his hair at home. The others have both trained themselves to cut their own hair. In our family, I have learned to cut my husband's hair.
We are saving money cutting hair at home instead of paying the barber's fee plus tip and we feel this justifies the cost of this clipper over time. Actually a larger issue was finding the time in the schedule for my husband to go to the barber shop when they were open and when it jived with his schedule, which was getting difficult with my husband's work hours. Also there is no sitting and waiting for the next available barber when you cut your own hair at home.
This is a professional device and is high quality. The way the clipper is designed is safe to use. More tricky is the Oster T-finisher tool, sold separately, because the T-finisher tool can cut the skin if not used properly. We use the Oster Classic 76 for the main cutting and clean up the sideburns, back, and back of the neck with the Oster T-Finisher.
Sometimes the Oster Classic 76 is sold in a combination pack with the Oster T-Finisher.
Read the package for which blades come with the Classic 76. My model number 76076-010 comes with a size 1 and size 000 blades. Other blades are sold separately.
After finding the manufacturer's full retail price online, we then shopped around locally and found the local retail stores including a 'discount hair supply store' were selling ABOVE the full retail price. We found the best price on Amazon.com so we bought it there.
We have been using this for about nine months.
Great clippers August 30, 2008
I purchased the Oster Classic 76 Professional Hair Clipper to replace a cheap model from Wal-Mart that broke. What a difference! My wife gives our sons and myself hair cuts. These clippers make short work of the hair and with ease. I would definitely recommend these.

I bought this for all-head shaving, including beard. I don't like spending time with wet shaving and normal dry beard shavers don't work for me. I like to have the same hair length (as short/bald as possible) everywhere. No hair-salons, no wasted time, no fuss. Bought this as a replacement for Andis 04710. Got the Oster in combination with the 00000 blade, as I thought it would be shorter than the Andis. It's not. It's also less convenient to shave as the Oster 76 is very big. The Andis is the best for fast short head and face shaving I've come across, and it's cheaper.
The Gold Standard of Clippers July 30, 2008
These clippers are probably the best clippers ever made. The casing is thick and sturdy and the cutting power is phenominal. The motor runs smoothly and, while it does get hot evetually, it takes a while for it to heat up. Although it is a bit heavy, so is a Rolls Royce when compared to other cars. This is the same clipper my barber used when I was in high school and college and I can now get the same results. He never used comb attachments, therefore, invest in more blades if you want to decrease the cut or invest in another set of clippers if you need an huge guard for your hair. The only thing though is that if you search throughly on Amazon you will find that some merchants price is lower than Amazon's, even including shipping and handling. Also, when you purchase this you might want to consider purchasing the Oster Clipper Essentials kit. as well.

What can I say? The clippers are excellent. The blades are sharp, and the clipper body feels heavy duty. That's probably the only minor negative is that the clippers are heavy, but this property is an obvious testimony to its quality. I definitely recommend the clippers to someone who is looking for clippers of great quality.
