1 out of 5 stars Another terrible squad game   September 28, 2007
1 out of 2 found this review helpful

This is probably the worst squad-based military game I have ever played. i bought it right after it came out and was immediately disappointed. The graphics are decent, but the AI is atrocious. Squadmates just stand up in the middle of a field and start pointing at the enemies. They do not hide when patrols are near you, nor do they cover you when you are doing recon on enemy positions. The worst thing that could ever happen in a video game of this type happened to me. I was standing on top of the extraction point at the end of a mission with the people I had rescued. There was only one way up to the top of this rock that I was on, and I was covering it with my weapon. Before the helicopter could come and pick us up, an enemy terrorist appears out of NOWHERE from behind me and kills me. I turned the game off and sold it immediately. Have never played since, nor will I ever.

If you like squad based games, avoid this one like it is an infectious disease. Pick up Star Wars Republic Commando instead. That is how squad-based action is supposed to be done.

SOCOM Navy Seals = Trash heap

5 out of 5 stars Great Game!   October 11, 2006
I was introduced to the SOCOM series when I played my bro's PSP Fireteam Bravo. Then the next time it didn't work so we went to Game Stop and bought SOCOM 3. I beat all of it, and it seemed boring. So I borrowed my friend's SOCOM 1 game and I got to the last Congo mission when it wouldn't work and I got mad. My dad, assuming it was mine, broke it. 2 days later we bought 2 SOCOM 1 games-one for me and one to replace my friend's. The graphics are pretty great, but some levels are just flat-out hard, especially the Prison Break mission. I got killed when I was facing the chopper. Too bad this game doesn't have checkpoints like SOCOM 3. But it was a good game!

3 out of 5 stars WAS a great Shooter and Online game!   October 6, 2006

SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs contributed to PS2's success being a really good Online game.I bought US Navy SEALs cheap along with a USB Headset, Online equipment(ethernet cable, disc and reuter) and joined a couple of forums to get into Online clans(Gamespot,IGN,NSG etc) since absolutely none of my friends have SOCOM or Online play.

The game weapons obviously as its a shooter game.It has M4,AK-47,AK-74,M16,AK-105 etc.
So theres some of the best rifles in the world.

Single player is hard but I managed to beat it over 100 times and play Online to the death.and as always got bored of it.

SOCOM II was better SOCOM 3 was OK and theres a new SOCOM game coming out called "Combined Assault" which I'll be getting.

I don't reccomend you buy this.the games graphics are by far outdated, Online mode if you actually get a few people on it is full of glitches and easy to chear
I rate the game a good 7.5/10-Good game that has passed its prime

Other good Online games are:

SOCOM II
SOCOM 3
Metal Gear Solid 3:Subsistence
Star Wars Battlefront II
Rainbow Six Vegas(soon)
FIFA soccer games
Madden American football games
and others
