Product Description In this breathlessly-paced contemporary drama, filmmaker, Albert Magnoli, director of "Purple Rain", brings the thrilling world of competitive gymnastics to the screen with vibrant visuals and a pulsing rock score. Starring Olympic Gold Medalist, Mitch Gaylord, the stunning Janet Jones (Chorus Line and Flamingo Kid) and Michelle Phillips, American Anthem is a triumph of will and endurance.Young, gifted and frustrated Steve Tevere (Gaylord) decides to take his last show -- against his father's will -- at competitive gymnastics. Stunning, well-heeled New Yorker Julie Lloyd (Jones) faces her own struggle: accustomed to being the best, she now has to work harder than she ever believed possible.Together they forge an alliance of love and support in the dangerous arena of world-class gymnastics. They want to do more than survive. They want to win.

Great Underrated Movie! March 9, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This movie had, and has, a special place in my heart. A good story that leaves you rooting for the good guys. Something about the Olympics in the 1980's connected on a personal level. Maybe it was because of the many underdog types actually winning.
Also having a nice love story and a drama story about the main character's father and mother and the entire family's relationship to one another. This movie does well to draw you in and make you care. The physical work is also tremendous and this whole film is beautifully shot. I hope this film makes it to dvd soon!!! Highly recommened!
