 Assembly wasn't as bad as I thought it would be July 23, 2008
We decided on this kitchen instead of the Melissa and Doug wooden kitchen, even though we have all the M&D wooden accessories. I'd read that this one was easier to assemble. I knew I would be doing it on my own because my partner would be out of town. I have never used power tools before. It actually wasn't bad. It was frustrating at first, but the first step is much harder than most of the rest of the assembly.
The directions can be difficult to interpret, which led to the foundation piece being put in backwards. That created problems down the line, meaning that I had to drill some new holes. It was easier to do that than unbolt everything and start over.
This would have been easier if there were 2 people doing it to hold some stuff in place. Also, you need an electric screw driver or it will take forever.
The reason that I give this only 4 stars is that after it was all said and done I had two 20 gallon garbage bags full of non-recyclable packing material which is just totally unnecessary. It's also a little wobbly.

We got our preschooler this kitchen, even though it looked a tad girly, and he is a boy. He doesn't mind, and he takes great pleasure "cooking" in it. It is nice and durable, and I assembled it by myself for Christmas while Dad was deployed, without any trouble at all. It's our third kitchen, but only our first wooden kitchen. It's worth every penny, the shipping was prompt and easy, and I think it will be a keeper for the future as well.
Great purchase April 29, 2008
My child loves this kitchen set and plays with it nearly every day. Hight quality, good size. We also got the blender, coffee maker and mixer sets to go with it. It took my husband about 6 hours to put it together. Our friend got the same on and said it took her 7 hours. It also has a strong odor when you first take it out of the box and put it together - had to air it out for a few days before the smell went away. Great purchase - I think our child will continue to use it for years to come.
Kidkraft Ultimate Kitchen - review April 17, 2008
We purchased the Kidkraft large kitchen, and due to a backorder, ended up getting the Kidkraft Ultimate Kitchen. We did have to contact the company about some damaged pieces, which they were extremely helpful and prompt in responding and sending out new ones. On a whole, the kitchen is gorgeous and a great imaginative play center. It does have a few downfalls, such as some of the construction is not as high of a standard as one would hope with such a large price tag. It has some chipped paint on some areas. Be prepared for about 2 hours of putting it together. Even with having to wait and get new parts, I would order this again. It is much better quality than anything you can buy at a local toy store and is both fun and a gorgeous toy.
Chef in making loves her kitchen April 9, 2008
My husband and I purchased this for our daughter who was turning four for her birthday. Her father is a chef and loves to "cook" in her play kitchen and loves to help us in ours. We have had another plastic cooking station that she loved but was in awe when she discovered her new kitchen was designed so life-like that she was happy to donate her old one. I am happy with the size and functionality of the kitchen. All of the cabinets open, including the oven, refrigerator, and microwave. The directions seemed very foreign and could use some improvement but all for all, very fun for a child.
