5 out of 5 stars An educational and very fun game   November 10, 2008

I gave this to my 4 year old gifted son last Christmas and for the 2 months following, all he wanted to play was Scrambled States. Good thing it is such a great game otherwise Mom and Dad would have gone mad! He has always had a geography interest so this game suited him perfectly. However, even my 9 year old nephew who is struggling to learn the capitals at school, loved it. What a great thrill to see him learning several of the capitals and nicknames after only 2 games. The directions and concepts are very easy to understand and best of all it's fun! This is a great game that could very easily find it's way into classrooms across America.

4 out of 5 stars Are state nicknames that important? I think not.   September 30, 2008

Well, we bought the game because of the glowing reviews. My two daughters (ages 9 and almost 5) and I played it right away and we had fun! I think we learned some geography too. But I found that lots of the cards related to the state's nickname. I would have preferred if the biggest three cities in each state were there instead. For instance, since Springfield is the capitol of Illinois, the child will not connect Chicago to Illinois at any point in the game. If I were to choose three facts for each state (which is basically the amount of info in this game) I would like them to know where it is, what the major cities are, and lastly/leastly the capitol of the state. SO, I thought that the illustrations were endearing, the actual method of play was fun and varied, but the content was lacking. That's why I give it 4 stars. I may change the cards myself to suit my preferences! Hmmmm...

4 out of 5 stars More fun than expected...   August 1, 2008

We got this game for our daughter (she's 8) because she loves the book. I have to admit, my husband and I had as much fun with this game as our daughter did. It's fun and fast-paced, as well as educational.

5 out of 5 stars Wow!   June 4, 2008
My 5 year old son has now learned all the states and capitals! I have recommended to all of our friends! Lots of fun!

5 out of 5 stars Thumbs Up   March 8, 2008

This is the game my nine year old son brings out when it is game time as his favorite. I have to admit that I've never been really up on my geography, so this has helped all of us review the locations, capitals and nicknames of the fifty states. After playing it repeatedly, some of the "challenge" cards start to get repetitive, so I do wish there were more (or a booster pack) to help keep the game fresh. A single game goes by pretty quickly, and can be easily adapted for younger kids or beginners (just let anyone who meets the criteria in the challenge card win the card, rather than just the person who puts down their card first). You have our recommendation!
