Amazon.com Beautifully simple to use, Black & Decker's Sight-Line Laser Level does everything the more expensive models do, and it does it just as accurately. Your price break basically covers the difference between a self-leveling base and this one, which must be adjusted manually. But since the leveling legs are so easy to manipulate, we don't see that as a big concession. It's thoughtfully designed with three bubble levels, so whether you're hanging wallpaper off a vertical line or chair rails on the horizontal, this Sight-Line charts your course with the touch of a button. It attaches to a vertical surface with just one contact point, whether you're using the magnetic hanging pin or the magnetic drill anchor (which requires drilling into the surface). We like the one-pin design; it feels easier to adjust than other laser levels that use two pins to attach. The laser line is sharp and clear, making all kinds of jobs easier. The micro-adjust base holds the unit on a workbench, table or floor and projects a straight line wherever you need it. You need only adjust the leveling legs, and that's a simple procedure. Once your bubbles are in the zone, just flip the power button and project a level, straight line wherever you need it. We think it's a great tool for laying floor tiles, too, and just plain handy to have around the house.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Could have been a great tool October 13, 2004 50 out of 51 found this review helpful
This could have been a great tool with a few modifications. I must say I am really disappointed with it and intend on returning it to the local home improvement center where I bought it. The unit comes with 1 base and 2 mounts. One of the mounts is a push pin mount for mounting into drywall. This mount does not work. The magnet on the side of the level is not strong enough to hold the unit into the push pin mount which could result in damaging the unit if it should fall from mount onto the floor. Mine will not hold the unit at all. The laser level itself would have been more usefull and would have mounted better with the included mounts if it had squared off surfaces. The unit is threaded for use on a tripod. I would argue the ability to mount it on a tripod was done because the included mounts are worthless. The laser is difficult to see when placed on the floor. I can see it fine if I turn the lights off. Laying floor tile in the dark sounds like fun. My chalk line and tape measure are much faster than trying to setup this unit. Even at the price of $29 I feel like I got suckered. My advice is to save your money and put it towards something better.
