3 out of 5 stars Should've rocked, but fell a bit short...   July 6, 2008

This should've been and could've been a great package, but you'll feel jipped, many of the performances that night are not on these discs. However, there are some surprise strong performances like, Keith Urban and Alicia Keys performing a Rolling Stone song together, Madonna doing something different by inviting some gypsy musicians onto the stage to perform a high energy performance of "La Isla Bonita", but you have to skip around to the great songs. Some of the big artists like "The Police" play lousy annoying songs instead of a classic.

i agree with most reviewers, 1 song from every performer and many left out? HEY YOU on cd but not on dvd? u would think that HEY YOU, being a specially written song and performance 4 the event, wouldve at least made the dvd 1 song live perfomance cut, instead of the bordello version of LA ISLA BONITA! really!

1 out of 5 stars annoying   January 22, 2008

This dvd is like a tribute to Al Gore with alot of talk about saving the earth (now since Live 8 has stamped out poverty).Very annoying political statements about how to save energy etc at menu sites on dvd. Most of the songs sucked also. There are some good groups on dvd but bad songs and irritating comments, like so and so is a great American? This dvd certainly will not heat up the enviornment save money and buy an air conditioner instead

4 out of 5 stars wish there was more of this concert ...   January 14, 2008

wish there was more on the dvds, a lot of talent is unwisely left off this dvd.

5 out of 5 stars Pleased However....   January 6, 2008

I was pleased with most of the selections on the DVD and was real excited to see the SOS All-STARS as the very first selection.
I'm not a big fan of Madonna and was disappointed to see and hear her on both the CD and the DVD.I admit she is very talented but would of liked to see or hear other bands that didn't even make it on either the CD or DVD. I will think twice before I decide to purchase the second edition of this concert.
I read other reviews before I ordered this and was surprised at how unhappy people seemed to be with the selections and I understand now why.
The day of the concert I saw and heard so many wonderful bands and hoped for a better selection when this edition was released.
I don't know who makes the decisions for these releases but was disappoined with a lot of the selections and found myself pushing the forward button many times. Where was Spinal Tap and some of the other bands that I enjoyed? I would of enjoyed more of Melissa Ethridge and Roger Waters instead of the duplication of these artist on both the CD and DVD. Come on people what happened to variety? So many things could of been better had corporate greed not had their hand in this......
