Amazon.com Review Lodge Color is one of the newest lines from this respected American cast iron cookware company. Traditionally shaped and more affordable than some European brands, Lodge Color enameled cast iron is just as durable, requires no seasoning, and attractively serves at the table. Lodge infuses this 6-quart Dutch oven with two coats of hard-as-nails porcelain enamel, in a choice of several bright colors that are gradated (dark to light) on the exterior, and which are nicely set off by a cream interior. Embellished with concentric circles and a black knob, the lid, which also fits the Lodge Color 11-inch skillet, is oven-safe to 400 degrees F, so you can start a stew or casserole on the stovetop and finish by baking it in the oven. The 6-quart Dutch oven measures 10-3/4 inches in diameter and 5 inches deep. Lodge enameled cast iron makes a smart choice due to its versatility-you can marinate raw meats in it, since it won't absorb odors or flavors, and you can braise, saute, simmer, and bake in it. Made in China to Lodge's meticulous specifications, each cookware item is first clad in matte black enamel before the color is added. The black rim that shows on the oven is actually the scratch-resistant matte enamel, not the raw cast iron. Though the Dutch oven is dishwasher-safe, washing by hand is recommended to best preserve the glossy finish. Look also for the pricier Lodge Enamel series, with its unique L-shaped lid knob, in a different set of colors and sizes to suit any kitchen. All Lodge enameled ware is covered by a lifetime warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri

As Good as Le Creuset, but a Lot Less Expensive August 15, 2008 Put the Lodge up against the Le Creuset and you'll be hard pressed to tell the difference. It cooks just like the Le Creuset as well. But the Lodge is much less expensive.
The enamel surface is easy to clean, just don't use abrasives.
It weighs a ton, so be sure to use the free shipping option.
Lodge Color (red) Enameled Cast-Iron Dutch Oven August 8, 2008 Great product - works flawlessly. Excellent heat retention - i can keep a soup at a low boil on setting 2 of my oven. Easy to clean. 5 Stars
Good buy August 5, 2008 My wife wanted an enamel dutch oven for Christmas last year, so I got her this one. After 7 months of use, it is holding up well and she likes it so I would definitely recommend it.
Best Buy August 5, 2008 The price is just incredible for what you get in comparison to the leading brand. The thing I find most surprising is the ease of clean-up. The porcelain wipes clean and has been durable. I do some high temperature searing/browning in the pot before braising and it's never a problem. Stove top to oven, chili to stew to making sauces, it's done the job and I never have to worry about clean-up.
Solid, large July 22, 2008 I wanted a large dutch oven like Le Creuset, without the large price tag. We had previously bought some Dansk Outlet enamelware, but the enamel cracked after 2 years. The Lodge seems to be just the ticket and my wife and I are very pleased -- heavy, well made, and the handle on top works well in the oven at 375.
