Very BIG watch July 10, 2008 This watch had all the functions but is HUGE!!! And if it does not get enough light it will go dead at night. But since it's atomic when it come around it has the correct time. But it was too BIG for me. Maybe Paul Bunyon would like it.
The Alarm is too weak and the watch is complicated June 27, 2008 I'm a gadget man and was very excited about this watch. But I quickly discovered that the Casio Men's Pathfinder Waveceptor Multi Band Atomic Watch would take a lot of time to figure out. The matchbox size instructions are near 200 pages and are cumbersome to use.
So here I am with this expensive, incredible, multi-function watch, but the alarm won't wake me up. And while I am grilling steaks, I can't figure out the stop watch.
I soon realized that what I want in a watch are the fundamental functions that are simple to use - BUT the extra accessories sure would be neat! However, this watch ended up - for me - being a complicated and frustrating high-tech gadget. So I sold it to a guy who is big into the outdoors and hiking.
My advice: Make sure this is the watch you want.
Footnote: it is inexcusable that Casio made this expensive watch have such a weak sounding alarm. And why can't Casio put the instructions - on their website - with easy to read full-page PDF files?
Less than my expectation June 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I like the looks and the features of the watch. Initially thought its green color looked too 'toyish' but it's actually not bad at all. I'm happy with it.
I have two gripes for this watch. First is its excessive time drift if not synced to WWV signal. I have other 'atomic' watch and clocks and my paw1300 has the worst internal clock accuracy. It loses about a second every two days, but it is still within Casio stated accuracy of +/-20 sec/month. That's the worst I've seen in any quartz type watches so I have to sync it regularly to offset the drift. My second gripe is it's poor WWV signal reception sensitivity. My other Casio G-Shock watch with the Waveceptor feature can pick-up the signal on most tries, but not my PAW1300. When tried together side-by-side, the paw1300 is successful maybe 10% of the time.
Other than my two gripes, I like the watch. It looks good, fits nicely, and has useful functions.
Outstanding June 21, 2008 After doing my homework I chose the Pathfinder. This was a great decision because Casio did not disappoint with this piece. No extra accessories needed, the watch works as advertised.
so far so good May 28, 2008 I bought this watch to replace my faithful suunto that has served me for several years. This watch is slimmer than the old, and as far as basic functions, seems to be as acurate, although the altimeter on the suunto carried me through the mountains of Afghanistan, and I am in less mountainous environment now. The main thing that has me excited was the solar power, which hopefully will work out, since my other watch needed a battery every year that I had it. anxious to see how this band holds up, how long before it gets replaced. overall seems to have been a good purchase.
