Amazon.com Product Description A great choice for complementing professional couture, the Invicta Speedway Chronograph G automatic men's stainless steel watch features a lustrous rose gold plating and cognac brown crocodile-textured leather strap. The gold-tone watch case is made from solid 316L surgical grade stainless steel, a low-carbon, nickel-free variant that has a higher resistance to corrosion and is hypoallergenic. The ivory mother of pearl dial includes gold-tone chronograph subdials, Roman numeral markers, and Tritnite luminous tipped hands (with seconds hand). Other features include a scratch-resistant mineral crystal with anti-reflective coating, date function at 3 o'clock, and water resistance to 200 meters (660 feet)--suitable for scuba diving. An automatic watch is a mechanical watch that is self-winding. the movement of your wrist and body causes the rotor--a weight attached to an automatic winding mechanism--to wind up the watch. This automatic watch has 21 jewels that the gears turn on to protect the metal parts from grinding together. it needs no battery, but it will stop if you have been physically inactive for an extended period of time. If this happens, wind the crown ten times clockwise to start the watch and give it some reserve power. Tritnite is a luminous material with an extended glow exclusively developed by Invicta in Switzerland and added to their timepiece hands and markers. When exposed to regular daylight, it will hold its glow for about 20 hours. About Invicta Latin for "invincible," Invicta was founded in La Chaux-de-fonds, Switzerland in 1837 by Raphael Picard, who believed that fine Swiss timepieces could be offered at modest prices. For more than a century, the company has created distinctive manual and automatic-winding pieces. In 1991, descendants of the Picard family reaffirmed the company's founding principle, and the invigorated Invicta has been growing ever since with one of the most widely diverse collections of precise Swiss timepieces on the market.

GREAT LOOKS! GREAT PRICE! WRONG WATCH? February 9, 2007 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
Upset? Who me? As lamented by a previous reviewer, this watch does NOT use a mechanical, automatic movement but a much lesser[read cheap but accurate] Japanese quartz internals Invicta uses on their much lesser watches. Invicta is considered in general to be a mediocre watch at best, claiming a highly inflated "suggested retail" price that somehow every reseller feels compelled to offer it for a mere fraction of the "suggested retail". Such a deal!
It's soooooo big baby. Invicta usually offers grossly-oversized watches for the psuedo-Freudian *BLING* effect, however this one addresses the tape at a very reasonable 40-41mm, so most adult men wearing this watch will appear, well, adult. Size matters, but only if it fits.
A rose by . . . "Tritnite", which reads far too similarly to *Tritium*, a very expensive and unique "self-charging" radioactive material that Luminox and a select group of other specialty watchmakers use [weapon makers also use Tritium for night sights]. Tritium is actually TOO bright for nightime covert activities as its steady, brilliant glow is quite visible to the naked eye for a considerable distance. Sadly, "Tritnite"'s similarity to Tritium is in name only. In reality, "Tritnite" appears to be just the same ol', same ol', tired, drugstore-quality timepiece illumination; after 12 hours of intense solar or high-watt exposure, glowing for just about 12 seconds before your now lunar-washed dial rapidly fades into oblivion faster than your New Year's resolution. While the aesthetics of this watch are gorgeous, it's just too bad a better watchmaker didn't make it so.
LOOK AT ME! please? Now, if you're into knock-offs and "fashion" watches, you will be ecstatic over your purchase. Treat it gently, guard it from the elements[including sweat and grime] and this watch should provide months, even years of great impressions from unknowing admirers. Its current price is significantly less here on Amazon than the big "O" touts on thier site and THEY'RE SOLD OUT!
This one went to the market... However, if you're expecting a real "bargain" price for a prestige timepiece[with an automatic movement], you will be grossly disappointed on both counts. Sometimes, even with Amazon[wonderful folks that they are], you get exactly what you paid for and we're reminded once again that a silk purse does not a sow's ear make.

the watch i received is battery powered ,unlike your description that states that it is not a battery powered watch, which is wrong and i am very upset.
great watch July 27, 2006 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Ok well I ordered this knowing that the watch band wouldn't fit my wrist. So now I am here waiting for Reeds Jewelers to get in the bigger band. So it sucks I have to wait for it but this didn't add to my review. The watch came in a nice yellow case. When I opened it up I saw the watch and it is amazing looking. People will more than likely think you spent alot more money than you did on it. The only bad thing is the instructions. I tried reading them and they made no sense at all. I am usally able to figure things out very fast but this watch took me an hour to figure out just how to set the time! The book dosen't tell specifically about the watch you buy it has the instruction for all there watches so you must find the right one and figure it out. It is actually harder than you think. So I got frustrated about that but I told myself to relax and I figured it out. Basically this is a great watch that looks and feels great. You can tell that it is a good qualiuty company that makes it and that it will last you a long time. Just note if you have a shotgun and a neighbor you don't like lock the shot gun away and give the key to a friend before you try to read the instruction manual. The watch gets a 5 but the instructions would get a 1 1/2.
