Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Product Description
Perfect for rugged adventurers and weekend warriors, the solar-powered Casio Pathfinder men's titanium sport watch is loaded with a digital compass and altimeter/barometer/thermometer--perfect for both mountain trekking and cave spelunking. The durable round watch case (measuring 52mm/2.04 inches wide) and bracelet are made of titanium, which is nearly 50 percent lighter than steel, but 30 percent stronger. It's also particularly resistant to salt water corrosion, as well as hypo-allergenic--perfect for those with metal allergies.

The altimeter offers 5-meter measurements from -700 to 10,000 meters, and it can store altitude, month, date and time data, provide tendency and differential graphs, track cumulative ascent/descent, and sound an alarm when you reach a specified altitude. The watch also has a digital compass with 16 points of measurement displayed on the dial face. Other environmental and timekeeping features include:

  • Barometer with atmospheric pressure tendency/differential graphics
  • Thermometer
  • World Time: 29 times zones (30 cities), city code display, daylight saving on/off
  • 5 daily alarms
  • 1/100 second stopwatch with 10-hour capacity and elapsed/split time modes and 1st-2nd place times
  • Countdown timer with 60-minute range
  • Auto Calendar (pre-programmed until the year 2099)
This watch also features a 15-second accuracy per month, Afterglow backlighting, and water resistance to 100 meters (330 feet)--offering protection from accidental splashes as well suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and light recreational diving. This solar-powered watch has a battery life of up to 6 months on a full charge (without further exposure to light).

1 out of 5 stars BE CAREFUL WITH CASIO   October 9, 2008
I have had a Casio watch for about a year and now the watchband needs replaced. I was informed by Walmart that they cannot replace a Casio watchband. I called Casio and they told me that as far as they know NO CASIO WATCHBAND CAN BE REPLACED BY A NORMAL WATCHBAND! I had to order a watchband from Casio and they had to know which model it was before I ordered it. Total price: $12.00 shipping, handling and sales tax included. I then asked the representative if instructions would be included because it was a different type of setup instead of pins. HE SAID THAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO RECOMMEND TAKING THE BAND TO A JEWELER TO HAVE IT PUT ON!! PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS AS BANDS DO NOT LAST FOREVER!!

2 out of 5 stars Too geeky for everyday, too large all the time.   September 10, 2008
Obviously many people love this watch, so there is a market for it. But for those of you who are on the edge, I would recommend against it.

First, its size. Reviews mention it is large, which I interpreted as being on the larger end of the spectrum of normal watch sizes. But it is more like, take a large watch, and then double it in size. It looks like a clock is attached to your wrist, not a watch.

Second it is not all titanium. It looks titanium, so I would say it is cosmetically titanium-the front and the band. But the back is stamped "stainless steel back" and I would guess from its weight it has more stainless steel in the body. It is much lighter than a stainless steel watch, but not as light as an all-titanium watch.

Third, there are too many adjustments, functions, and controls, and incredibly tiny script and icons that make the watch too busy and too hard to read. I wanted a altimeter-thermometer-compass watch, but some of the graphics and details are so tiny and crowded in, that the functions themselves are overwhelmed.

Fourth, the functions are not 100% reliable. When the watch is not fully charged, some functions do not work. And other times, even though fully charged, sometimes I do not get a reading on temp or compass.

Last, the band is harder than most to resize, due to these very small interior pin collars that pop out and have to be reinserted. It is a piece that is so small you might not even notice them, but if not reinstalled, the pin will not stay in place long term.

A nice toy, but since it is neither a precision instrument and nor a respectable piece of office jewelry, it ought to be a $50 purchase, not a $200 one. I would return it if I had not already resized it.

4 out of 5 stars Great Watch; excellent timekeeper and great illumination dial   August 15, 2008
This was a birthday gift. Once I went through the manual and set everything up, it remains pretty acurate (compass, altimeter, barometer). I have owned it two months and it has not lost one second. I set it to the Atomic Clock and I just went back and checked and it is dead on. It does not seem to stay at a full charge, even after 7-8 hours out in the direct sunlight in the middle of the day on a boat. But it hasn't ever reached the low charge state either.

Overall I am extremely happy with this watch. I own Seikos, Heuers, Tag Heuers, and Timex watches. This is the first digital (electronic) watch I have owned and it's a great one.

5 out of 5 stars excellent product   August 2, 2008
Of all the watches i have, this is one of my favorites. It has great features and is well worth the cost.

4 out of 5 stars Swiss Army Knife of Watches   April 5, 2008
What else could you ask for in a watch. It's just a bit large on the wrist.
