Amazon.com Product Description The affordable, entry-level Timex T5G941 is great for those just starting out with heart rate monitoring. This digital wristwatch-style monitor continuously tracks your heart rate via a comfortable, elastic chest strap (which fists chest sizes from 25 to 53 inches). The large, easy-to-read display recalls your activity time and average, peak, and minimum heart rate, and it includes 12/24 hour time and month/date display. It also features INDIGLO night light backlighting for use at night, up to 2 years of battery life, perforated rubbers strap, and water resistance to 30 meters (100 feet)--enabling it to withstand splashes and accidental dunks into the water, but not suitable for swimming.

GREAT - so far..... January 7, 2009 I bought this product for myself not to long ago and have used it sparingly. With the new year, I've pretty much used it every day for some intense workouts, and have no problem.
It's very simple to use and the chest strap sits comfortably around your torso (not too tight).
I have not had a bad experience with a Timex product yet. The only way the products seem to not last is by my own abuse - I've accidently smashed a couple watches on a doorknob or basketball goal post.
Overall, would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a simple, reliable heart-rate monitor.
Very difficult directions! December 28, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This product comes with 2 instruction booklets! This should give you a clue about how hard it is to use. I gave this to my daughter as a gift and came very close to returning it Christmas morning. She finally got it working after she soaked the sending device in water while it was strapped across her chest. This seems like a lot of trouble to me but she decided to try it a bit longer before sending it back.
This has saved my life! December 21, 2008 I have exercised off and on for years, but then had to stop for awhile after surgery. Starting back, I got this, and always wear it to the gym. It not only lets me know when I'm about to over do it, but I can see if there is any arrhythmia, a sign I am already overdoing. It has taken a little practice for me to learn what is the right amount of exercise for my body, but it has been very helpful! It's great not to have to stop working to take one's pulse. It isn't possible for my husband to use, however, as he has had rickets, and the chest monitor won't pick up the impulses. I wish there were a wrist-only band to check the pulse.
Buy a Pulsar December 12, 2008 Hard to use strap and then monitor was wildly inaccurate. Had two previous Timex's that lasted about 6 months each or less. Returned to Amazon for refund. Upgraded to a Pulsar for $99.00 and it works great. No use spending less on something that doesn't work!
Heart Rate Monitor November 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this monitor. It is a little slow to start, be sure to wet the strap first. Once you start your warm up it gets going. My favorite fitness tool! I won't exercise without it. It's a great purchase for the price.
