Not worth the money November 13, 2008 I had high hopes for this product. It is great sleeping without a bra but I only used these maybe 5 times and they had significantly lost much of their adhesiveness. I also experience a small amount of discomfort having my nipples pressed inward over several hours. It was enough that I would think twice about if I really wanted to use them at night. I did meticulously follow the cleaning instructions. Luckily, you are able to return them.
extremely disappointed November 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was extremely disappointed with this product in every way. First of all, I bought it so I wouldn't have to spend a lot on disposable breast pads. However, the description doesn't make it clear that they only last two months. If you're going to spend $20 every two months, you might as well buy disposable. Second, they're not dependable against leaks (I'm a DD cup which probably contributes as the problem as the Lilypadz are small so they hardly cover anything). Maybe they would work better on smaller breasts, but my biggest concern is how unhygienic they are. I'm convinced they are a breeding ground for yeast and bacteria, which then makes your baby susceptible, and sets you up for infections. Even though I was very careful and followed all the instructions on cleaning them, at the end of the day they just didn't seem clean enough. I think this is mainly because your nipples get no air, and after nursing, if you don't have time to dry out, they can get milk trapped under the pad. They were also awkward when nursing because I didn't really know where to put it, and I had to fully expose my breast to reapply the pad. And finally, the vacuum created by the pad pulled my breast into a wierd shape that you could see under my clothes.
I bought the product as I thought the concept was really good but in every way it is a waste of money and I'm extremely concerned about the hygiene issue and the problems that could result.
Nice alternative, but loses it's stickiness October 23, 2008 I have 4 children and I nursed all 4. I just got LilyPadz after the last baby. I like them because you can't see them when you are wearing white or another light colored shirt. Also, they are flat against your skin so you can't tell you have nursing pads on. I also liked using them when I got in the pool and when I had a massage because they suctioned to me. The downside is that they do lose their stickiness after a little while. You HAVE to wash them daily or they will not stick and have a bad smell. Luckily, I don't have to wear nursing pads for long since I don't have a problem with leaking. So, they are great for a short term. You would definitely need multiple pairs depending on how long you nursed. Overall, I would purchase them again, because they are the best alternative to traditional nursing pads.
Good only for about a week - NOT WORTH THE $ October 2, 2008 If you only need this product a few times, then they're great. But the packaging claims they are usable up to 2 months. C'mon! I've had 3 seperate pairs and each set lasted only a little more than a week before the tackiness had all but disappeared. Washed & cared for them according to manufacturers directions and even called the company for tips. PROS: (for a BRAND NEW pair)Very comfy, stick well, painless, thin & no bra at night! CONS: Tackiness DOES NOT LAST! High $$ price for a product that doesn't deliver. I would recommend for someone using the padz for a wedding or big event, but for daily use you may as well just use a disposable/cotton pad.
Wonderful if Used Sparingly September 24, 2008 I was concerned that these might not work for me as I am fairly large-breasted (DD since my pregnancy) and I tend to leak quite a bit (enough to soak through a washable pad in a couple hours). Despite this, at the recommendation of another reviewer, I decided to buy these primarily for use at night so that I didn't have to sleep in a bra. For this purpose the product has been WONDERFUL. They stick to me just fine and I don't have any leaking issues. I take them on and off during the night to feed my son and just wash them the next day and sit them out to dry for use the next night. I also wore the pads once to a wedding under a very tight strapless bra so as not to add any bulk and they did a fine job. I probably wouldn't want to wear them during the day, as they perform less well after multiple re-stickings without washing and I wouldn't want to have to wash them mid-day. Also, it is more of a hassle to take them off and stick them back on then to just fold my disposable pads down with my nursing bra.
I have found that on the first one or two sticks after washing the pads, they successfully prevent any milk from even coming out of my nipples. After a few nighttime feedings (and re-stickings), I sometimes wake up to find a small pool of milk collected in a bubble around the nipple. However, the sides of the pad keep it contained -- I just need to make sure to have a tissue on hand when removing the pad to catch the spill out of the collected milk.
As for stickiness, I've been using them every night for over 3 weeks now and they are still perfectly sticky. I don't know how long that will last, however. Hopefully I'll get more mileage out of them because I only wear them at night.
