Great taste and value August 29, 2008 Since we use a great amount of prunes, Newman's Own Organics Organic California Prunes, Pitted, 12-Ounce Unit (Pack of 6), are excellent for us. I can't find six 12-ounce single packs anywhere for the price I pay for the six-pack here. We just started on our second six-pack and so far have only found one pit. Which is excellent; the brand I used to buy wasn't pitted very well and I had to be very careful of my teeth. This is definitely a good deal for us especially, when I add something else to my order which brings it to the amount that qualifies for free shipping.
good taste, but a little tough at times July 25, 2008 I don't know if I got a "bad" batch or maybe just have odd standards of my own. Hmmm. I'm used to eating Sunsweet prunes, and they're sweeter and softer than these organic ones.
I like that these are not so sweet, but sometimes I find them a bit tough, and I wish I weren't eating them straight from the bag but instead cooking them with oatmeal or something like that.
I don't use them for any real physical problem or challenge; I've always really liked prunes in general. My dad needs these for regularity, and I must say they've been really good for him. Better than the generic or Sunsweet ones we used to get for him. Dunno why that is, but it is.
Anyway--solid four-star rating.
Ooo, little tip--put a few in a food processor and mince them up, then use them as a spread on toasted whole wheat or whole grain bread. Yummy!
Decadent! June 23, 2008 This is my favorite prune! These are moist and smooth and rich. I've had some figs that give the same sort of experience. These are not tart at all, really a pleasurable not-too-sweet desert or snack.
Delicious and fresh June 9, 2008 These arrived quickly and were very fresh and soft. Our whole family really likes them and in fact, it's hard not to eat too many. We have had problems in the past getting prunes that we couldn't make into prune butter if we wanted to (for lowfat baking) but these would certainly work very well.
