Very Good November 18, 2008 Good, tasty product! It arrived on time as well. I'd certainly order this again.
Poor taste and nutrition November 16, 2008 I've never been a big fan of palak (spinach). However, the major problem with this item is that the palak gravy is too thin and the paneer tastes really bad.
To make matters worse, the sodium level in this product is ridiculously high. I bought this product thinking that it would be slightly more healthy compared to other packed-food products but the high-sodium level ruined it.
That said, some of the other products by this brand, for example 'dal bukhara' and 'rajma', taste much better. And if you are looking for healthy food, I guess you should be looking somewhere else. Buying some fresh vegetables at the local grocery store might be a good start in that regard.
Excellent November 10, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
My first taste of this brand. Had purchased Tasty Bite in the past. This was on special, so ordered several flavors. This was excellent, as was the other flavor...other was spicier, but loved it. Boiled the bag and served it with the other flavor and rice. I guess we have big appetites since we finished both package with the rice and some Naan, in one meal..
not very yummy November 2, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I normally love this dish. It's one of my faves at the local Indian restaurant I frequent. But this version of it, perhaps because of what's required to market something in a foil bag and ship it all over thither and yon, isn't very good.
It's thin, for one thing, and my first packet of it contained a whopping three chunks of cheese. Say what?! I love the cheese! Where's the cheese?! Added to the cheese shortage is the fact that the dish is a wee bit salty, and you've got a palak paneer that doesn't really light my fire. IF I combine it with a biryani from the same company, it's tolerable, but I normally like this dish with nothing more than a couple of slices of naan. Ah, well, live and learn.
Delicious, but a little soupy October 23, 2008 PROS: This dish is delicious. The flavor is not at all hot-spicy, but there is plenty of body to it. The cheese is firm. It was really easy to prepare, too. I just tossed the bag into a pot of boiling water for 4 minutes, as recommended by the preparation instructions.
CONS: The texture is lacking. It's almost as if the spinach was pureed; this makes it a little too soup-like. Also, the sodium content seems a little too high. The nutrition info on the package says there is 800 mg/serving (33% daily value) and about 2.5 servings/package; so if you eat this all at once like me, you'll be ingesting about 2000mg of sodium (about 82.5% of the daily value).
But for the texture, I would be happy to find this on my plate in a restaurant.
